Inquire About Bridal

You've picked one of the Midwest's most stunning wedding venues — The Osthoff Resort on Elkhart Lake, The American Club at Kohler, or Victorian Village. Now you're flying in from Chicago, Milwaukee, the Twin Cities, or further afield, with a packed pre-wedding schedule and one big question: where does the bridal hair part fit in? Here's the timeline that works for destination brides marrying in our backyard.

01

The Long-Distance Reality of Destination Bridal Hair

Local brides have the luxury of trial-and-error. They can do a bridal trial three months out, change their mind, do another, change their mind again. Destination brides don't get that.

You usually have one window — the days you're already in town for venue tours, dress fittings, or the rehearsal — when a trial appointment is even possible. Building the timeline correctly around that window is the difference between a relaxed wedding morning and a stressed one.

02

9–12 Months Out: Lock Your Stylist

Top luxury venues in this region — Osthoff, the American Club, Victorian Village — book peak summer and fall weekends close to a year out. Bridal stylists in the area follow the same calendar.

The smartest move once your venue is confirmed is to immediately reach out to your hair stylist. At Ann Michael Collective, we hold the date with a deposit, then build the rest of the timeline backward from there. Inquire by calling (920) 781-2057 or messaging through our bridal page.

03

6 Months Out: Virtual Consultation + Inspiration Boards

Even though you can't sit in our chair yet, we can do a virtual consultation over video to discuss your dress silhouette, veil decisions, hair length and texture, and a few inspiration directions. We'll lock in the rough plan so when you're in town for the trial, we're not starting from zero.

Send 5–10 inspiration photos of styles you love and 2–3 of styles you don't. Bring photos of your dress and any hairpieces you're planning to use (combs, veils, headbands). The more we know in advance, the more focused your trial appointment can be.

04

2–3 Months Out: Coordinate Bridal Party Logistics

If you're bringing a bridal party with you, this is when we coordinate. Number of bridesmaids, who needs hair vs. just touch-up, photographer's timeline, getting-ready location — all of it gets locked in.

For weddings at Osthoff, most bridal parties get ready in suites at the resort. For Kohler, the American Club rooms work but some brides prefer the dedicated bridal suite at the venue. For Victorian Village, on-site is standard. Each location has implications for whether we travel to you or you come to the salon — both options work, the timing is just different.

05

2–4 Days Before the Wedding: The Trial

Most destination brides do their trial when they're in town for the rehearsal week. Two to four days before the wedding works perfectly: you're already on-site, your stress is at its highest before the trial and meaningfully lower after. Seeing the actual look in a mirror, with your veil, on your hair on this trip — it changes everything.

Plan 90–120 minutes for the trial. We'll set the look exactly as we'll do it day-of. Take photos in different lighting. If anything doesn't feel right, this is when we adjust. By the time you walk out, you should have zero questions left for wedding morning.

06

Wedding Morning: The Service

Wedding morning runs 3–5 hours depending on bridal party size. We start with whichever member of the bridal party has the most complex style and end with the bride — that way the most important hair has the least time to settle before photos.

Standard inclusions for our bridal services: a final styling pass right before the ceremony to refresh anything that has shifted, touch-up products handed off to your maid of honor for the reception, and recommendations on what to do at hour 6 if the dance floor gets ahead of your hair.

What to Send Your Stylist Before You Arrive

07

The Local Advantage You Get From a Wisconsin Stylist

Choosing a stylist who knows the venues — and the lake — matters more than destination brides realize. We've worked weddings on humid August afternoons at Osthoff. We know what styles hold up in 80% humidity beside the lake versus indoors at the American Club ballroom. We know the access points at Victorian Village and which timing windows the photographers there typically request.

That knowledge is invisible until you need it — and on the wedding morning, it's the difference between calm and chaos.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should a destination bride book her hair stylist?

As early as you book the venue — ideally 6 to 12 months before the wedding date. Top stylists in the Elkhart Lake / Sheboygan area book bridal weekends fast, especially in summer.

Can I do a bridal trial if I'm flying in?

Yes. Many of our destination brides do their trial when they're in town for venue tours, dress fittings, or the rehearsal dinner — often 2–4 days before the wedding. We can also do a virtual consultation in the months leading up.

Do you travel to the venue for bridal hair?

On-location bridal services are available for select venues and date availability. Inquire by calling (920) 781-2057 or emailing through our booking portal — we coordinate based on bridal party size and travel logistics.

Can you do hair for the bridal party too?

Yes. We regularly handle bridal party hair for groups of 4–10. Coordinated start times, multiple stylists, and clear timing for portraits are all part of our standard bridal service.

What if I want different stylists for the bride and bridal party?

Common request and easily handled. The bride typically gets the senior bridal specialist while the bridal party is split across our other stylists working in tandem to hit the timing your photographer needs.
